ABOUT US

The Allied Health Professionals in Aesthetics (AHPA), is a professional association for allied health professionals providing cosmetic and aesthetic treatments in the UK.

Who We Are

We are a voluntary professional organisation dedicated to supporting HCPC-registered Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) who practise within the field of non-surgical aesthetic medicine.

Membership to the AHPA includes access to our AHPA whatsapp support group.

Our members include paramedics, physiotherapists, radiographers, operating department practitioners, occupational therapists, and other regulated AHPs who bring advanced clinical skills, strong ethical standards, and a commitment to safe, evidence-based care.

We exist to ensure that AHPs have a recognised, respected, and clearly defined role within the UK aesthetics industry—particularly as new national licensing standards and regulatory frameworks are introduced.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is simple:
To champion clinical excellence, uphold public safety, and support the professional development of AHPs delivering aesthetic treatments across the UK.

We work to:

  • Promote high, consistent standards of practice in line with HCPC requirements.

  • Provide guidance, resources, and governance frameworks tailored to AHPs working in aesthetics.

  • Advocate for fair, evidence-based recognition of AHPs within the evolving UK regulatory landscape.

  • Ensure the public can access safe, skilled, and accountable aesthetic practitioners.

  •

Why AHP Representation Matters in Aesthetics

AHPs bring a unique combination of:

  • Advanced assessment and diagnostic skills

  • Deep anatomical and physiological knowledge

  • Experience in clinical decision-making

  • Strong governance, ethics, and accountability frameworks

Yet historically, the aesthetics sector has lacked a dedicated voice for HCPC-registered clinicians.

As the UK moves toward a new national licensing system, it is essential that AHPs are visible, represented, and included—alongside our nursing and medical colleagues—in shaping the future of safe aesthetic practice.
We provide that representation.

Our Commitment to Public Safety

We place patient safety at the heart of everything we do.

Our standards, guidance, and professional expectations are aligned with:

  • HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance & Ethics

  • JCCP/CPSA Aesthetic Standards

  • Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Prescribing Competency Framework

  • Good clinical governance and evidence-based practice

We proactively support our members with:

  • Guidance on safe practice and scope of competence

  • Complication recognition and escalation pathways

  • Consent, safeguarding, and record-keeping frameworks

  • CPD, education, and reflective practice support

  •

Our Relationship With the JCCP

We are proud to work in alignment with the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP), whose mission is to improve public safety in non-surgical aesthetics.

JCCP supports our organisation as part of wider efforts to:

  • Create a clear, regulated professional landscape

  • Ensure practitioners meet nationally recognised standards of education and competence

  • Promote safe, ethical aesthetic practice across all professions

We contribute to ongoing JCCP stakeholder engagement and support the dissemination of CPSA and JCCP standards, helping our members prepare for the upcoming UK licensing framework.
